“Moral Courage: The Story of the WWII Ritchie Boys”

The Council for Holocaust Education presents the 25th Annual Yom HaShoah Interfaith Holocaust Commemoration, “Moral Courage: The Story of the World War II Ritchie Boys.” The “Ritchie Boys”, an elite division of the U.S. Army, greatly aided Allied forces in their fight against Germany and other Axis nations. These soldiers, who trained at Camp Ritchie in Maryland between 1942 and 1945, numbered nearly 20,000 with about 2,000 being Jewish German-speaking immigrants who fled Nazi-controlled Germany.

The commemoration will feature speaker Landon Grove, director and curator of the Ritchie History Museum in Cascade, MD; an exhibit of entries from the 2023 Yom HaShoah Art Contest, created by Oklahoma middle and high school students; a candle lighting ceremony in honor of six Oklahoma Jewish Ritchie Boys; and musical performances from Elliott Wulff, Kara Staiger, and Rick Fortner. The Tulsa City-County Library will also have many Holocaust books and media available for checkout.

We look forward to seeing you there for this very special program.
