Guest speaker, Dr. Jennifer M Hoyer is an associate professor of German Studies and the founder and director of the Jewish Studies Program at the University of Arkansas. Since the early 2000s, Dr. Hoyer has presented and published widely on Holocaust poetry specifically Nobel-Prize-winning German Jewish poet Nelly Sachs. She has taught many courses on writing and art related to the Holocaust and has been involved in numerous Holocaust education initiatives across Arkansas since 2008. Hoyer’s current research explores the intersection of mathematics and lyric poetry through a Neurodiversity Studies lens. Jennifer holds a BA from the University of Tulsa and an MA and PhD from the University of Minnesota. This evening, Dr. Hoyer will discuss how our understanding of Kristallnacht has changed over time.

The program includes the annual Middle and High School Kristallnacht Art Competition, with student artwork on display and the winners of the competition announced.
